Event Details

In a hands-on setting, you'll discuss:
  • How to set up a Rails environment
  • How to build basic websites or blogs using Rails, Heroku and related tools
  • An intro to Sinatra – a even simpler alternative to Ruby on Rails (RoR)
  • An intro to Ruby and Git – an awesome version control system
  • A list and understanding of must-use Ruby Gems and Libraries
At the end of the workshop, each attendee will have their own website deployed.

  • Developers who'd like a quick intro to Ruby, Rails and its workflow
  • Individuals interested in learning about the software that powers some of the world's leading websites and startups

This event will first run face-to-face in inner-city Melbourne (venue TBC) and is likely to run in Sydney in mid-April.

 

Bio: Mat Holroyd is a Ruby on Rails programmer hailing from Melbourne, Australia. He's worked with brands such as Aesop, CERES, The Conversation, Fitzroy Learning Network,The Fetch and founded BitPiggy. He's worked in education and training for universities, sporting clubs and language organisations both in Australia and overseas.

 

This workshop has a maximum of 10 places, encouraging a hands-on and intimate event.
